Sixth Form Open Evening
Thursday 29th November, 6.00pm until 8.00pm
Over the last nine years, we have had the best results amongst the non-selective post 16 institutions in the area. The success our students have enjoyed has allowed them to progress into a fascinating array of higher education courses locally, nationally and internationally. Many other students have used the skills developed over the course of their studies to great effect in employment.
Outside of the classroom HLHS sixth formers have consistently led by example, proving to be a real inspiration to younger students. Our Community Sports Leadership Award students work closely with our partner primary schools; this work further enhanced by the Higher Sports Leaders programme in year 13. The charity committee organises a series of events over the course of the year, which all students are encouraged to support. The student council provides students with a voice in the issues which matter to them. Sixth form students are given an important role in the day to day running of the school, and they work regularly with younger students through sporting and academic activities. A mentoring and paired-reading programme means that lower school students receive the support and motivation they need; all lower school forms have attached sixth form students; V-Inspired and the Arts Award, both nationally recognised, offer students the opportunity to help out in subject areas to benefit the school as a whole.
